Jewish Community of Kauai
Service Leaders

JCK resident services leaders are volunteers, rotate responsibilities and share their knowledge leading Shabbat and other services.

Marty Kahn

Board President Emeritus Marty Kahn continues to officiate at services. He has been an inspiring community leader for decades. Marty reads Hebrew, has a beautiful singing voice, and imparts thoughtful, funny and loving insights.

Rabbi Rob Kvidt

Rabbi Rob, long time JCK member, received Smicha (Rabbinical Ordination) in 2019, from the Rabbinical Seminary International located in New York City. Rabbi Rob’s teachings also align with Martin Buber and Abraham Joshua Heschel. He considers himself a liberal rabbi with an interfaith background and philosophy. Rob leads Shabbat services and chants Torah, and will be assisting Rabbi Aryeh at High Holidays.

Sara Silverman

Sara leads Shabbat and Seder services and has done so for many years. She has a great depth of understanding and compassion. She is the daughter of the late Rabbi Martin Silverman ZT”L, who also led services when he visited Kauai.

Rabbi Aryeh Azriel (visiting 2019 High Holidays Rabbi)

Rabbi Aryeh is currently a Scholar in Residence at Countryside Community Church where he will be offering a Jewish understanding of Hebrew Scriptures. He is also adjunct lecturer at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Rabbi Aryeh was recently featured in a 2019 article in Oprah Magazine and on CNN for his groundbreaking work at his Tri-Faith Initiative in Omaha. Born and raised in Israel, Rabbi Aryeh served as Senior Rabbi at Omaha’s Temple Israel from 1988-2016. He also lead JCK High Holiday services in 2016 and 2017.
